Preserving Our History since 1972.

Located along the Ohio River, Pleasants County was founded in 1851 by taking parts of Wood, Ritchie, and Tyler counties.

Our county was named after James Pleasants Jr, a former U.S. Senator and governor of Virginia. Between the train tracks, the island, and the Indian burial mound, there is plenty of history in our county.
