Pleasants County Historical Society
Family histories have become an annual tradition for the Society’s August meeting since 1979, when Bruce LaRue invited the Historical Society to meet for a picnic at his home, a historical site at the mouth of Broad Run on Hebron Road and hear the history of the LaRue Family.
Jacob and Issac LaRue were the first permanent setters (1790) in what is now Pleasants County, WV. Bruce’s enthralling presentation has led to 45 family histories or related histories being shared.
*With the passing of Bruce LaRue, the meetings were on longer held at the LaRue Homestead, but were moved to the Pleasants County Senior Center in 2009.
